Our Wedding Look

Life a la Mode Wedding

One year ago I married my best friend. After a year of planning and preparation it was the perfect day and as everyone says it was the best day of my life. I would give anything to relive our wedding day.

The overall look we were going for was classic and simple. I didn’t want to do anything too trendy, knowing that my kids would one day be horrified. I wanted the wedding to reflect us. I also wanted to look and feel like an enhanced version of myself. Before wedding dress shopping I wasn’t sure what style I wanted (I didn’t even have a clue what the styles were called). When I tried on Maggie Sottero’s Kyra I knew it was the one. My grandma wanted me to try on some others but I didn’t want to take it off. I love that it has a classic line and silhouette but has beautiful details. The lace has a vintage and rich feel (without the price) from a gorgeous floral design, Swiss dots and Swarovski crystal. The belt cinches in the waste and adds had more of the beautiful lace, dots and crystals in a more concentrated area (plus an adorable bow in the back).

Our main colors for the wedding were navy blue and a paprika orange. Since the rest of my look was simple I wanted to have a pop of color and flair with my shoes. There was a bit of chaos getting the shoes– ordering and never getting them, ordering again and only getting one shoe… But I was determined to get these Badgley Mischka Lacie Navy Pumps.

I wanted my make up to have a little drama, but still wanted my future husband to be able recognize me walking down the aisle. My foundation was airbrushed for a clean and smooth base. I had a smokey eye and pale pink lip. I looked like me, just extra pretty. 🙂 My hair was loosely curled with half pinned back in a knot and surrounded by a sprinkling of crystals.

There’s not as much to say about Andrew’s look. He wore a semi-custom Italian tuxedo with a charcoal grey satin vest and bow tie. His boutonnière was a simple white garden rose with a few springs of lavender and olive branch leaves to match my bouquet and bridesmaids. I wouldn’t change a thing about our looks, both individually and as a couple.
