Planning the details of our wedding was one of my favorite parts. It was also a little tricky because I love so many styles, but still wanted to have a cohesive look. My husband is half French so I knew I wanted our wedding to have a French theme. I also love rustic, shabby chic, and French country styles, but our venue, Spanish Hills Country Club, had a more old world, classic and formal feel. I learned it was all about balance. On the actual wedding day I didn’t really have a chance to take in all the gorgeous details. I was in la la land. It wasn’t until I received my wedding pictures (by Gavin Wade Photography) that I truly got to appreciate all the little details that I had put months into planning.
The flowers were the easiest part and my favorite element of the wedding. Amy from Stella Blooms Designs is the absolute best! I had met with a couple other florists and was terrified that I’d have to tell them exactly every single detail and hand hold them the whole time. That wasn’t even close to the case with Amy. From our first meeting I knew I could trust her to take my ideas and run with them.
Some details from our wedding included: chalkboard signs (greeting, program, menu, signature drink & a wedding video app), rustic lanterns filled with candles & flowers, wood crates filled with dried lavender that the escort cards were placed in, pictures of our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents from their wedding days, a wood sign with a bible verse Andrew had made me, and many other small details.
I didn’t want the wedding to look too perfect or too put together. I wanted rustic elements, but still classic and semi-formal. For the flowers I envisioned someone walking through a beautiful field of flowers and gathering different flowers a long the way. I’m in love with how it all come together!
