Our week in Bordeaux has been filled with daily trips to the marché. It’s probably my favorite thing. In the mornings it’s quite and peaceful, but come 11 am the outdoor market is buzzing. The sounds– People shopping for their daily groceries. People catching up with old friends. Friends and family chatting over mussels and wine. Venders offering samples. The smells– cheese, pastries, fish, bread, frites (french fries), soaps made locally, vanilla pods, dried herbs and spices. The tastes– a panini with ham and cheese, raspberry and peach lassi, and samples up for grabs. The sights– gorgeous homemade treasure (jewelry, blankets, platters and bowls), gorgeous food, clothes, bands playing, and people watching. I love the market.
