Fancy lattes are the perfect pick me up for an ordinary and blah day. This Cinnamon Sugar Latte or my homemade Caramel Macchiato quickly elevate what would be a dreaded Monday morning to much happier start to the week. Cheers to a happy Monday!
Cinnamon Sugar Latte (serves 2)
1/2 cup coarsely ground coffee
1 1/2 tsp + 1 tsp ground cinnamon
2 cups milk (I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Nonfat works well too)
1 tbsp vanilla simple syrup (recipe below)
1 tbsp sugar
Add ground coffee and 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon to a large French press. Add 2 cups of water and let steep for 5 minutes.
Meanwhile bring 2 cups of milk to a simmer in a small saucepan. Once the milk starts to get hot vigorously whisk or use an Aerolatte Milk Frother to make foam. Push down the French press to separate the grounds from the coffee.
Add 1 tbsp of vanilla simple syrup to a mug. Pour 1/2 of coffee and 1/2 of warm milk. Add a dollop of foam over top and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar (1 tbsp sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon mixed).
1/8 cup of sugar
1/8 cup of brown sugar
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Place all ingredients in a small sauce pan over over medium low heat. Cook for 5 minutes until sugar is dissolved and syrupy. Let cool and use immediately or refrigerate.
