Caramel Macchiato at Home

One morning I was craving Starbucks’ Caramel Macchiato, but didn’t want to get out of my pjs so I decided to create one from the comfort of my own home.

Caramel Macchiato at Home
Ingredients:
1-2 tsp vanilla syrup (recipe below)
1 cup of milk (whatever milk you typically drink)
1/4 cup strong coffee/espresso
1 tsp caramel sauce (any store bought caramel or I made this Caramel Bourbon Vanilla Sauce over the holidays and it was delicious in this recipe)

Directions:
Place milk in a small sauce pan over low heat. Once the milk is heated through a little, use this nifty Aerolatte Milk Frother (or intensely whisk) to create velvety foam.  Grab your favorite coffee mug and pour vanilla syrup inside.  Pour frothed milk (with foam) over syrup.  Pour coffee over foam (that’s how Starbucks does it) and top with caramel and enjoy!  Serves 1 or you can multiple the recipe if you have guests.

Vanilla Syrup
Ingredients:
1/8 cup of sugar
1/8 cup of brown sugar
1/4 water
1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Directions:
Place all ingredients in a small sauce pan over over medium low heat. Cook for 5 minutes until sugar is dissolved and syrupy.
